Overview -

Hello world! My name is Mikey, I recently passed my eJPT and this is my review of the eJPT from eLearnSecurity.

Price -

I paid $325 for the eJPT Elite Edition (this was before INE purchased eLearnSecurity). Now you can get the course for free in the INE starter pass and the voucher from eLearn for $200.

Format -

The overall format of the course was good. The best part about eLearn is that they give you all of the necessary material you need to pass the exam. The material is presented to you in PDF’s, videos, and labs.

Videos -

The videos go along with the corresponding material covered. Some of the videos show you how to use the hacking tools mentioned in the course, which you will need to know in order to complete the labs and final exam.

Labs -

The best part about this course was the labs. They are hands on scenarios that teach you the tools and techniques discussed in the course. You download a VPN file and PDF lab manual and away you go. Sometimes the labs are slow to initially load up, but once they do, I had no problems with them.

Fixing SMB -

The one problem I ran into is that SMB tools in Kali kept throwing errors. Eventually I found this solution on stack and it seems to have fixed the issue.

The Exam -

I have my CCNA, and my Security+, and I can say that the eJPT has been the most fun certification exam I have taken.

It is all completely hands on. Just like in the labs, you are given the VPN file, then you hack into a bunch of machines and then answer some questions. There is no report writing for this exam.

EVERYTHING you need to pass the exam is covered in the course. You might hear other people saying that you need to learn how to pivot for this exam, but I passed with a 20/20 without pivoting.

Conclusion

The final exam for the eJPT was funnest certification exam I have ever taken. My advice for the final exam would be, take it on a weekend, go through every lab twice, make sure that your distro of choice’s tools work correctly, and make sure to double check your target IP’s.
